New vision for Adelaide Crows Foundation

NEWS
The strategy has a focus on the delivery of community initiatives.

The Adelaide Crows Foundation has announced its ambitious plan to positively impact one third of the state’s school children through its health, education and inclusion programs.

The Foundation’s Crows Community Strategy has a focus on the delivery of community initiatives proven to have an influence on the big social issues facing the next generation of South Australians.

Adelaide Crows Foundation Chairperson Kate Thiele described the priorities within the strategy as bold and targeted.

“Off the back of the global pandemic, we have worked to redesign our programs and services to ensure we can leverage the power of sport and the Crows brand to build a better future for young South Australians,” Thiele said.

“We are on target to engage more than 17,000 children this year across our health, education and First Nations programs, which is a substantial uplift from 2022.

The Adelaide Crows Foundation is aiming to positively impact 100,000 South Australian Children by 2027.

“We couldn’t have achieved this growth without the generous support of our partners across all tiers of Government, Variety – The Children’s Charity, BHP, Bibbulmun Foundation, Workskil Australia and The Sebastian Foundation.

“While we are already seeing good engagement, our goal is to have our restructured community programs positively impact the lives of 100,000 young South Australians by 2027.

“We have invested heavily in data and insights to help guide the development of this strategy and evidence-based programs to ensure we’re addressing the contemporary challenges facing young people across mental health, education and First Nations inclusion.”

Crows CEO Tim Silvers is confident the Foundation, in partnership with the Club, can grow to become one of the State’s leading charities.

“The Foundation plays an important role in providing a vehicle for the Club to give back to the community and it’s pleasing we’ve been able to increase our resourcing in this space across the past year,” Silvers said.

“While our community programs are already seeing strong results, we believe a great deal more can be achieved to positively impact local children and youth and sport is a proven driver in building stronger communities.

“By working alongside the Club, the Foundation is able to tap into our players as sporting role models to drive engagement and empower disadvantaged children to reach their full potential.”

The Foundation’s top strategic priorities to be achieved by 2027 include but are not limited to:

  • A self-sustained community foundation;
  • Community programs accessible to 100,000 participants; and
  • The development of new evidence-based programs tackling childhood mental health and First Nation reconciliation and inclusion.
